DOM-Driven Uraninite Dissolution
Exploring how dissolved organic matter mobilizes uranium from reduced soils and sediments
This work explores how dissolved organic matter can mobilize uranium from reduced soils and sediments without oxidation — a pathway largely overlooked in current models of uranium transport. Using liquid chromatography coupled with ICP-MS, we resolve how individual organic matter fractions dissolve uraninite, bind U(IV), and influence the reactivity of the resulting complexes.
